Daylight Simulation
Researcher, Digital Model Builder
A thorough investigation on the quantitative day light in a design prior to construction. The technique was to construct a physical scaled model of the space to be studied.
Using photometric sensors in various daylighting conditions, combined with a photographic record of the day light quality, the design's performance was determined and adjusted in an iterative process. Studies were conducted in full sun at three periods of the day, as well as inside an artificial sky, which simulates the average day light in a uniformly overcast sky. The recorded values were superimposed over the floor plan for a comprehensive graphic.
